Obituary for Brian John O'Donoghue

South River
Brian J. O’Donoghue age 68 of South River passed away Wednesday July 1, 2015 at his home. Born in Newark he has resided in South River for the past 20 years. Before his retirement in 2013 he was employed as a welder for Con-Rail for 19 years. Mr. O’Donoghue proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp and U.S. Army from 1968 through 1991 in Vietnam and several other military actions. He was a member of the Marine Corp League and Milltown V.F.W.

He is predeceased by his parents Peter & Ellen O’Donoghue as well as his brothers Phillip and Donald. Surviving are his sons and their spouses Brian and Cobie of Arkansas, Patrick and Christine of New Jersey, sisters Maureen Dunphy and Carol & Charles Conen of Florida, his brothers and their spouses Peter and Roseanna of Pennsylvania and James and Camille of Arizona, three grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as many cousins, and Steven Fagan, a dear friend.

Funeral services will be held Friday 9:30am at the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River N.J. with burial to follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, N.J.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Thursday from 6pm to 9pm. Members of John Basalone Marine Corp League will hold services Thursday 7pm at the funeral home, members of Milltown V.F.W. will hold services Thursday 7:30pm at the funeral home.
