Obituary for William Arthur "Bill" Connors

William A. Connors age 57 of Wake Forest, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Friday September 18, 2015 at his home. Born in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, N.Y. he had resided in Sayreville graduating from Our Lady of Victory Grammar School and Saint Joseph’s High School in Metuchen, and then continued his education at Brookdale College.

Bill entered the police academy at the age of 21, working as a police officer for the Port of Authority of New York and New Jersey where he worked for 25 years retiring in 2004. William was very involved in the September 11th rescue efforts at the World Trade Center where he worked for 9 months recovering many of our lost heroes. He was a member of the Blue Knights Motor Cycle Club and a communicant of Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville. In his early years Bill was very involved with his sons coaching Hockey and teaching them to be certified scuba divers.

Surviving are his sons Sean, Shane, Timothy and Ian Connors, his granddaughter Cadence Connors and his parents William and Margaret O’Keeffe Connors of Sayreville.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 8:15am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin followed by a 9am mass at Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church in Sayreville with burial to follow at New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Friday 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in William’s name be made to the September 11 Port of Authority Memorial Fund.
