Obituary for Nicholas Weber

Nicholas Weber
South Amboy
Nicholas Weber, age 81 of South Amboy, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in South Amboy, he was a lifelong city resident. Before his retirement, Nicholas worked as a proud ironworker with IBIW Local 40 in Manhattan and local 373 in Perth Amboy for many years. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Amboy where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Sayreville Tuesday Club, and the Sayreville St. Stan’s Seniors. Nick was 1 of 4 founding members of the Morgan First Aid Squad.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ann Boros Weber, his children Joe and his daughter in law Christine and her son Reid, Tracy and his best buddy and son in law Chuck Kelly, and Dawn and his son in law Tony Rutski. Honored and adored by his children, Nick’s pride in his grandchildren was immeasurable, with his grandson Nicholas being a paramedic and granddaughter June a soon-to-be graduate from Penn State. Also surviving is his sister Constance Lemerich, his brother Frank Weber and his sister in law Lorraine and many nieces and nephews.
Nicholas was truly a man of God whose love and dedication to his family was paramount. A gentleman through and through, he could light up a room with the greatest smile and most beautiful blue eyes. Although he battled countless physical injuries, Nick was blessed with the most loving, adoring and caring wife, who nurtured his back to tip top shape each and every time. Diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer 9 years ago did not stop Nick from doing things his way. He never complained and his strength and tenacity to fight the “devil” we call cancer was truly a lesson in determination and the human spirit.
Nick loved to spend countless hours “working” out in the yard, carefully tending to each branch, flower and blade of grass, making sure his home was picture perfect. When forced indoors, dad also loved to keep busy in his professional grade workshop, handcrafting flawless works of art.
Funeral services will be Friday 8:30am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin, with a 9am mass to follow at Sacred Heart RC Church in Parlin. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum in Keyport.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Nick’s name be made to Morgan First Aid Squad 1960 Highway 35N South Amboy, NJ 08879 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
