To the Family of Karl Haider, With Sincere Condolences, As the South River Middle School principal for nine years, 2003-2012, I had the distinct pleasure of knowing and working with Karl Haider, during his lengthy tenure on the South River Board of Education. Insomuch as he was a very vocal participating member of that Board, which appointed me in 2003, to what was my last and most enjoyable principalship during a lengthy career, I will always remember him with appreciation and fondness. But let me expand upon this thought in a far more personal manner. Your father and grandfather, Karl Haider, in a most caring manner, made very evident that he, personally, strongly supported my approach to guiding our students and teachers, as the leader of our middle school, and on so many occasions stated so to me. Maybe more significantly, Karl came to our middle school, many years, around Veterans' Day, to share with our students his own military experiences, while a member of the US Navy, during the Korean conflict. Karl was a prototypically proud military veteran, who earned the respect of all who knew him. Karl Haider truly made a difference while he was yet here on Earth, and I genuinely resected him, tremendously! Rich Sternberg
