John Pachkowski, age 80, of Sayreville, passed away May 3, 2017, at St. Peter’s Hospital, New Brunswick surrounded by his loving family. John was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Himey) Pachkowski. He was a life-long resident of Sayreville and graduated from Sayreville High School in 1954.
Mr. Pachkowski served in the Navy. He was a 35 year veteran of the Sayreville Police Department retiring with the rank of Detective Sergeant in 2001, serving as President of PBA Local #98 from 1968 to 1969, and PBA State Delegate from 1984 to 1987.
John was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish in South Amboy and a member of the parish’s Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans, St. Stan’s Senior Club, and Sacred Heart Senior Club, and Elks No. 784.
John is survived by his beloved wife Lorraine (Gallas) of 56 years, two sons John M. & Mary Alice (Peeling) and Brian, and his daughter Laurie. He is also survived by his brother and sister in law Harry & Bernadine as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday 10:15am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane with a 11am funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church in South Amboy. Burial will take place at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Sayreville.
