Obituary for Anna Kourtsoglou (Polihronopoulu)

Anna Polihronopoulu Kourtsoglou, age 86 of Highland Park, passed away Wednesday August 2, 2017 at Aristacare at Cedar Oaks in South Plainfield. Born in Thouria – Messinia, Greece, she had lived in Highland Park for over 20 years. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway.

Anna was a beloved mother and an adored grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a seamstress and loved it. Anna enjoyed creating beautiful, handmade embroidery pieces. She enjoyed sharing her visions of beautiful fashion and how she could create them. She was the true definition of a matriarch in a family. She enjoyed cooking for her family and sharing recipes and her “secret” tips. Anna was a lady with class and a true homemaker; she loved her family and enjoyed cultivating a culture of love and watching them grow.

She is predeceased by her husband Georgios.

Surviving are her daughters Olga Daskalothanasis and Eleni Kokkinis, her grandson Bill Kokkinis, his wife Lisa and their children Tristen, Brenna AnaMaria, and Brayden, her grandson George Kokkinis, his wife Anna and their children Eleni Alexia, and Christian Steven, her grandson Panagiotis (Pete) Daskalothanasis and his wife Olga Mantsis, her grandson George Daskalothanasis, her sister Athena Stoupas and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be Monday 9am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave South River with a 10am mass at St. George Greek Orthodox Church 1101 River Road Piscataway. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery 52 Lincoln Ave. Metuchen.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.
