Irene  Padewski (Parent)
Irene Parent Padewski, 100, of Parlin, NJ, formerly of Carteret, NJ passed away peacefully on August 20th at Merry Heart Assisted Living Facility in Succassuna, NJ. Irene's kind and loving spirit touched all of her family and friends.

Irene was born in Lowell, MA. At the age of eleven she moved with her parents to Newark, NJ. It was in NJ that Irene met and married Edward Padewski with whom she had two children, Lorraine and Edward Jr. Eventually, she moved to Carteret before moving to Parlin upon her retirement from AT&T (formerly Western Electric).

Irene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Diane; five grandchildren Karen, Karl and his wife Pam, Edward III and his wife Kate, Glenn and his wife Lisa, and Michelle and her husband Tim and ten great-grandchildren Dean and his wife Sondra, April, Samantha, Amber, Jonathan, Nicholas, Alexander, Kristina, Kaitlyn and Alaina. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Sr., her daughter, Lorraine, and her son, Edward Jr.

Irene loved to dance, travel and spend time with her family. She traveled to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She also visited her family in MA and Canada. She was a line dancing enthusiast and celebrated her 85th birthday with a country theme. Irene was always the life of the party keeping everyone entertained with many humorous stories.

Irene's commitment to her faith was exhibited through her active involvement at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Carteret and at St. Bernadette Church in Parlin. Irene volunteered her time to many organizations and charities having been a member of the Columbiettes in both Carteret and Parlin, serving as a past president. Irene was a honorary life member of the St. Bernadette's Columbiettes, she has been a member for 41 years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bernadette's church in Parlin. She organized many successful fund raising events which enhanced the community within the churches to which she served.

Visitation is on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 4pm – 8pm at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin. Celebration of Irene's life will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017, at 9:30am at St. Bernadette's Church, 20 Villanova Road, Parlin. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, 53 Inman Ave., Colonia.
