Obituary for John W. Wilchek

Parlin
John W. Wilchek, age 94, of the Parlin section of Sayreville passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at JFK Hospital in Edison with his loving family at his side. Born in Yonkers, NY, Mr. Wilchek lived in many areas throughout the country before settling in So. Plainfield and eventually moving to Parlin, where he has resided for the past 4 years. After graduating from NYU, he was employed as a chemical engineer with Hercules, Ashland Oil, and many other firms in NJ, NY, KY, and OH. John was the consummate family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren gardening, going to the beach, and playing sports. He also loved bowling, collecting coins and watching old classic movies. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is predeceased by his parents, William and Anna Wilchek. Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years Muriel Wilchek of Parlin; his children and their spouses Valerie & Joe Yannuzzi of Parlin, John, Jr. & Judy of LA, Brian & Karen of Monroe, Robert & Jamie of VA, and Marina of FL; his grandchildren Joey, Dani, Ella, Preston, Curtis, and Katharine; and his great-grandson John, III.

Funeral services will take place Tuesday, 8:45am from the Carmen F Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane Parlin, NJ with a 9:30am mass at St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin. Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in So. Plainfield.
