Obituary for Raymond J. Greeley

Old Bridge
Raymond J. Greeley, age 93 of the Parlin section of Old Bridge, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Born in Newark, he has lived in Madison Park for over 60 years. Mr. Greeley was a proud veteran of the US Navy who served his country on the Destroyer USS 658 Colohan in World War II. Before retiring nearly 20 years ago, he worked as a Journeyman electrician for Local 52 IBEW in Maplewood, where was elected Business Manager for 8 consecutive terms. During his career, Raymond also was Assistant Business Manager and Recording Secretary, as well as Vice President of the NJS AFL-CIO, President & Secretary of Essex Co/Building Trades, and Vice President of Essex-West Hudson Labor Committee & the C.O.P.E. committee. Raymond was also a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Eunice Greeley in 2008 and his parents Harry James & Mary Greeley.
Surviving are his children and their spouses Keith & Carol of PA, Scott Greeley & Leonard Johnson of North Brunswick, and Coleen & Chris Nolan of FL; his 7 loving grandchildren David (Nicole), Ryan (Kimberlee), Lydia (Brian), Kyle (Monique), Vanessa, Rachel, & Bridget; and his 2 wonderful great-grandchildren Hailey & Zachary.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane Parlin with a 9:30am funeral mass at St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
Calling hours at the funeral home will take place on Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Raymond’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at https://shop.stjude.org/GiftCatalog/donation or 501 St Jude Place
