Pearl E. Markowski, age 100, passed away Wednesday February 21, 2018 at Reformed Church Home in Old Bridge. Born in Sayreville, she was a lifelong resident of South River. Before her retirement, Pearl worked as a seamstress for A. Berman in South River and then as a sales clerk with Princess Bake Shop in East Brunswick. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was Past President of the St. Mary’s PTA, a member of the Union of Polish Women Group 47, an honorary Columbiette Council 3001 and a member of the South River Seniors.
She is predeceased by her parents Stella and Felix Brzozowski, husband John, her brothers Joseph and Frank Brzozowski, her sisters Joan Olszewski and Mary Wolynec and her son Leon Sr.
Surviving are her daughter in law Susan Markowski, her son Gerald & his wife Robbie, her grandchildren Leon Jr. & his wife Denise, Robert & his wife Kimberly, Lori & her wife Denise, Joseph & his wife Jeanne, James & his wife Ashley, Sheri, her 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and her sisters Eleanor Zaleski and Rose Wolski.
Funeral services will be Saturday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave South River, with a 9am mass at St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Brunswick.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9.
