Obituary for Josephine "Josie" Ciak (Jackowski)

Josephine “Josie” Ciak age 93 of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26th at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Sayreville she was a lifelong borough resident. Before her retirement she was employed by Brodsky’s in South River as a Seamstress for 43 years and was a member of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union. Josie was a communicant of St Stanislaus RC Church in Sayreville where she also was a member of the St Stans Seniors and the Rosary Society.
She is predeceased by her parents Anthony and Victoria Jackowski, her husband Alfred and her siblings Hattie Shuberda, Jean Oldziej, Antoinette Sienkiewicz, Charles, Stanley and Edward Jackowski. Surviving are her sister Natalie Woronowicz and her husband Oscar, her step children Raymond Ciak, Antoinette D’Ippolito, Arlene Phillips and Susan Sharpe and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 8:30am Thursday from the Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main St, Sayreville with a 9am Mass at St Stanislaus Kostka RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will follow at St Mary’s Cemetery in East Brunswick.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St Stanislaus Kostka School, 221 MacArthur Ave, Sayreville, NJ 08872.
