Obituary for John Sitze

South River
John Sitze, age 93, of South River, passed away Thursday March 22, 2018 at his home, with his loving family by his side. Born in South River, he was a lifelong borough resident. John was a graduate of Ryder University with a degree in accounting. He was the proud owner and operator of Sitze Baking Company on Whitehead Ave in South River for many years. He also worked as an accountant with Joseph Frogtett Accountants. He proudly served on the South River Board of Education and was an exempt fireman with South River Engine Company #1. He belonged to the Imperial Music Club in South River. John was a US Navy veteran of WWII and a member of Sts Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church in South River where is was a member of the church choir and the Men’s Club.
He is predeceased by his parents Dimitri and Agafia Sitze, his wife Mary, his brothers Alex and Walter & his sisters Mary Fritz, Raya Shaluha and Olga Zelenko.
Surviving are his daughter JoAnn Meyers, his loving grandchildren Amanda Meyers, Lisa Zervas and her husband Andrew, his great-granddaughter Eliana Zervas, and many nieces and nephews. John’s family would like to thank the following people for their excellent care they provided during his brief illness: Grazyna Pluszyk, Bertram “Robert” Peters, Michael Naumczyk, Tracy Campos, Eden Weiss, Shirley Talluri, and Alinah Ababass-Shereef.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 9:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave with a 10am service at Sts Peter and Paul RC Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Brunswick.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Panahida services will take place at 7:00pm on Monday.
