John E  Garboski
South River
John E. Garboski, age 90 of South River, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Sunrise of Marlboro Assisted Living. Born in South River, he was a proud lifelong borough resident. John attended South River High School where he was an all-county football player in 1946. After serving his term in the Navy, he graduated from Rutgers Prep. During his years at Rutgers Prep, John continued his football career while also playing semi-pro football on Sunday nights in Perth Amboy. Before his retirement, Mr. Garboski worked in the Photo Lab at DuPont in Parlin for over 30 years. He was a member of the South River American Legion Post 214, a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River, and a member of both the Holy Name Society and the South River Knights of Columbus Council 3001.

He is predeceased by his loving wife, Lorraine Trojanowski Garboski in 1990, his sisters Edna Lepucki and Florence “Bobbie” Krzywicki and his brother Arthur Garbosky. Surviving are his son Jake Garboski of Morganville, his grandchildren Courtney, Stephanie and John and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Avenue, South River with a 9am funeral mass to follow at St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Brunswick.
