John Whiteclay Chambers II

Saturday, August 18, 2018 Dear members of the family of Edwin A. Kolodziej I just received the sad news that Ed has passed away. It is devastating to me to learn that he is no longer with us, and it grieves me not to be able attend his wake and funeral scheduled for this Monday and Tuesday. I am heading up to Massachusetts for a family wake and funeral, and I shall not be able to return to New Jersey until Wednesday. I am deeply sorry to miss Ed’s funeral. Ed Kolodziej was a dear friend and a person I very much admired. He was truly a great man: a World War II hero decorated by General George Patton, a dedicated husband and father, a public spirited attorney and legislator, a loyal son of Rutgers, and a devoted champion of the Rutgers Oral History Archives and the Rutgers Living History Society. The good that he did will continue to live on for years to come. I shall never forget him. We shall all miss him so very much. My sincerest condolences to all the family. With much sadness and love, John Whiteclay Chambers II Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History Rutgers University
