Joseph F. Vitale Sr. age 92 of Old Bridge passed away peacefully on Friday September 28th 2018 at his home with his loving and devoted family at his side. Born in New Brunswick he had resided in South River, Franklin Township, Sayreville, Spotswood and New Brunswick before moving to Old Bridge 15 years ago. Mr. Vitale was a long time Truck Driver being a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 701 retiring from General Cable Company in Perth Amboy. Mr. Vitale was also the owner of Silver Fox Restaurant and Joey’s Restaurant in Sayreville and was a communicant of Saint Thomas the Apostle R. C. Church in Old Bridge.

He is predeceased by his brothers Albert, Nicholas, Nunzio, and Salvatore and his sisters Genovese and Frances. Surviving are his wife of 75 years Josephine Daszkiewicz Vitale, his children and their spouses Joseph F. Vitale Jr. of Edison, Marcia & Tom Calandra of Lake Como, Florida and Anthony & Beth Vitale of Manalapan, his sister Theresa Piros, 7 grandchildren and their spouses Anita Marie & Michael May, Jennifer & Steve Hill, Joseph & Kim Vitale, Valerie Ann Vitale, Lauren Vitale, Joelle & Kyle Williams and Stephanie Vitale and 5 great grandchildren Cody Calandra, Carmella May, Cooper May, Siena Vitale and Julian Vitale.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm at the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River with a 7:30pm pray service and private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in Joseph’s name be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
