Obituary for Walter J Ligas Sr.

Walter J  Ligas Sr.
South River
Walter J. Ligas Sr., age 85 of South River, passed away Thursday January 29, 2015 at McCarrick Care Center in Somerset. Born in Barnesboro PA, he had resided in South River for over 70 years. Before his retirement, Walter worked as a plant supervisor with PSE&G in Edison for over 35 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River, where he was a member of their Holy Name Society. Walter was a US Army veteran of the Korean War Conflict.
He is predeceased by his wife Ann Csiti Ligas in 1987 and by his sister Blanche Urbanik.
Surviving are his sons Walter J. Jr. and Susan of Sayreville, John and Cathleen of Manville, Jeffrey and Anne of East Brunswick, his granddaughters Jessica, Amanda, Brittany, Heather Ann and Tiffany, and his sister Catherine Lazarski of VA.
Funeral services will be Monday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave South River with a 9am funeral mass to follow at St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Brunswick.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2pm to 6pm.
The St. Mary’s Holy Name Society will hold services on Sunday at 4pm.
