Obituary for Madeline Gorman
Madeline (Sadowski) Chorpita Gorman, age 87 of Middletown, Delaware passed away Friday February 20th 2015 at Broadmeadow Nursing Home in Middletown, Delaware. Born in Flushing Queens, NY she had resided in South River for 64 years before moving to Delaware 3 years ago. She was a 1946 graduate of South River High School. Before her retirement, she was employed as the Cafeteria Manager for South River High School for 30 years. Madeline always enjoyed the beach on Long Beach Island with her grandchildren and she most recently enjoyed playing bingo and painting.
She is predeceased by her parents Zigmund and Helen Sadowski, her first husband Peter Chorpita, her second husband Francis “Hal” Gorman and her brother Fred Sadowski. Surviving are her daughters Donna Pawlowski and her husband Richard of Middletown, DE, Joanne Miranowicz of South River and Cindy Keepers and her husband Mike of South River, her grandchildren Dena, Monica, Keri, Eric, Erica, Amanda and Jessica and their spouses, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday 11am at the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Ave., South River with a private cremation to follow.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Madeline’s name to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
