Mitchell Kawalec age 66 of Jackson, passed away Tuesday April 14, 2015 at his home. Born in Sulechow, Poland he resided in Sayreville before moving to Jackson 20 years ago. Before his retirement 30 years ago he was employed for 11 years as a tool & die mechanist for Kimberly Clark in Spotswood. Mr. Kawalec was a disabled U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Sayreville V.F.W. Memorial Post 4699 and Jackson Knights of Columbus Council 6201. Mitchell was a former communicant of Saint Stanislaus Kostka R. C. Church in Sayreville.

Surviving are his son Christopher Kawalec of Springhill, Florida, his parents Jan & Wladyslawa Kawalec of Jackson, his sister Louise Wisniewski and her husband Donald of Jackson, and his nieces Erica Aquilina and her husband Joseph of the District of Columbia and Nicole Wisniewski of Jackson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 10am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville followed by a 10:30am mass at Saint Stanislaus Kostka with burial to follow at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Friday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Members of Sayreville VFW post 4699 will hold military services Friday 7:30pm at the funeral home, members of K of C Council 6201 will hold services Friday 8pm at the funeral home.
