Obituary for Robert J. "RJ" Small Jr.

Robert J. "RJ" Small Jr.
Sayreville
Robert Joseph Small, Jr., known to all as RJ, departed this world far too soon on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015. His quick wit, larger than life personality and indescribable sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

On March 26th, 1990, RJ entered this world with an eagerness to explore and push boundaries. Always on the go since he could walk, RJ loved all sports and excelled at everything he did. His passion for sports, especially basketball - statistics, spectating and playing - was unlike any other. A lifelong Sayreville resident, RJ played youth sports with the Sayreville Leprechauns and St Stanislaus Basketball. He loved deeply and spoke freely and was a wonderful son, brother and friend.

But he did not discover his true love or passion for life until his daughter, Adriana, entered this world on March 2, 2011. That was the day that RJ truly came into himself. The love he had for his little girl is something that words cannot describe and his spirit will live on forever in his daughter.
RJ is predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Edward and Betty (Nanny) Lynch and Geraldine and Robert Small as well as his uncles, Kevin Lynch and Jerry Small and his aunt Linda McMullen.

He is survived by his loving parents; his mother Sharon Lynch of South Amboy and his father, Bob and his partner Kori of Forked River. He will forever be adored by his sister, Jessica or Boo, as he called her, of Clearwater, FL. The love of his life, his daughter Adriana, will keep his memory alive along with her brother and mother, Christopher and Stephanie Rodriguez, as well as her family Richelle, Amanda and Charlay. RJ is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends all over the country who adored him deeply and will miss him every day.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 8pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin with private cremation to follow.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Thursday from 5pm to 9pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for funeral expenses. Letters of condolence, directions and completed arrangements can be found at spezzifuneralhome.com
