Mary J. Karaniewsky age 87 formally of South River passed away peacefully on Monday August 1, 2016 at Brookdale Deer Creek in Deerfield Beach Florida. Born in South River she had resided there until moving to Florida 16 years ago. Before her retirement 21 years ago she was employed as a seamstress for 25 years at Segal Brothers in South River and was a long time communicant of Saint Stephens R. C. Church in South River.

She is predeceased by her husband Alexander Karaniewsky in 1999 and her son Allen Karaniewsky in 1952. Surviving are her sons and their wives Robert & Minako Karaniewsky, Thomas & Lisa Karaniewsky and David & Zandra Karaniewsky, her grandchildren Ryan Karaniewsky and his wife Anne, Emily Karaniewsky, Dr Amy Karaniewsky and Tracy Karaniewsky and her fiancée Ivan Rocha, her great granddaughter Allesandra Karaniewsky, and her siblings Margo Chickas, Helen Mazorowski, Rose Roub and Eleanor Lis.

Funeral services will be held Monday 8:30am from the M.A. Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River followed by a 9am mass at Saint Stephens R. C. Church in South River with burial to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.
