Irene Sengstack age 93 of the Old Bridge section of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at Wedgewood Gardens in Freehold with her loving family at her side. Born in Lakehurst she had resided in Old Bridge all of her life. Before her retirement 28 years ago she was employed as a civilian service worker for the U.S. Army in Kilmer and Ft Dix for 31 years. Irene was a member of Deborah Heart & Lung in Brownsmills, Imperial Music Center in South River, Sayreville Senior Citizens Club and a lifelong communicant of Saint Thomas R. C. Church in Old Bridge.

She is predeceased by her parents John and Agnes Sengstack, her siblings Ferdinand Sengstack, Agnes Janczlik, Margaret Yeager, Ruth Zaehring, John Sengstack and Helen Keppe. Surviving are 14 nieces and nephews, 36 great nieces and nephews and many great great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday 8:15am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River followed by a 9am mass at Saint Thomas R. C. Church with burial to follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday from 2pm to 6pm.
