Obituary for George O. Diffin

Sayreville
George O. Diffin, age 75 of Sayreville passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Elmhurst, NY George has lived in Parlin for many years. He graduated from William E. Grady High School in Coney Island and after proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy aboard the USS Saratoga in the Vietnam War. Before his retirement, Mr. Diffin worked as a facilities manager with Middlesex County as well as being employed with A.B. Dick Company. George was very active in the community having served as a City Councilman, a committeeman for the Democratic Party, a member of the Recreational Advisory Board, as well as a founding member and past President of the Sayreville Soccer Association. He was also a benefactor member of the NRA and member of the Sayreville VFW Post 4699.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years, Linda Diffin in 2010. George is survived by his loving children and their spouses George & Cara of Parlin, and Kelli-Ann & Jerry Fitzgerald of Whitehouse Station; his sister and her husband Kathleen & Anthony Pravato of Florida; his 3 wonderful grandchildren Haley & Madison Fitzgerald and Julia Theresa Diffin; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin followed by a 9:30am mass at Our Lady of Victories RC Church. Burial will take place at New Calvary Cemetery.
