Obituary for Margaret A. Hughes

South River
Margaret Hughes, age 82, of South River, peacefully passed away at her home on Thursday, January 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born in East Orange and later relocated to South River where she lived for the past 56 years. She graduated from Clifford Scott High School in East Orange. Margaret worked for Sears for 24 years as a Manager in the Catalogue Department, having proudly received Employee of the Year honors. In her spare time, Mrs. Hughes donated her time to the Brain Injured Girl Scouts via Corpus Christi Church, where she was also a very devout communicant.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Walter Hughes, Sr., who passed in 2007. Margaret is survived by her loving sons and their spouses Walter, Jr. and Dorothy of Morganville, Edward & Elodee of Hilton Head, SC, Steven & Bettyanne of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Gary of South River; her wonderful grandchildren Erin & Daniel, Dennis, Bradley, Eric, Edward Jr. & Danielle, Jessica, and Jennifer & Daniel; her 4 great-grandchildren Robert, Dennis, Jr., Kayleigh & Alexa; her goddaughters Sarah & Amanda; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends who will always remember her fondly. Margaret will also be missed by her beloved cat, Bonnie.

Funeral services will be held Monday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Avenue, South River followed by 9:00am Mass at Corpus Christi RC Church. Burial is to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in South Brunswick.
