Kenneth R. Davis, age 88, of South River, passed away peacefully on Monday February 27, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ with his loving family at his side. Born in Riverside, CA, he married lifelong borough resident Lydia Lemantovich in 1951 and had been a South River resident ever since.

Until he made his way to the east coast, Mr. Davis held a variety of jobs including a salesman at the Hollywood JC Penney, where he fondly recalled selling ties and shoes to the aspiring actors and actresses of the time. He also served in the Air National Guard while living in Arizona. Once he settled down with his wife and family, he founded Parkway Vending Company, South River, which was in business for over 45 Years. Then he assisted his two sons, part-time, in their successor business, Parkway Specialty Foods, for several additional years.

In his retirement, he enjoyed writing his memoirs, listening to Glenn Miller, watching the Red Sox, engaging in spirited political discussions with his children and playing with his cat Amber.

Mr. Davis is predeceased by his parents, George and Opal (Lewis), his cherished wife Lydia (who he missed dearly), sibling Wanda Killeen, sister-in-law Olga Miller, and brothers-in-law John Lemantovich and Alexander Lementowicz. Surviving are his children and spouses, Kenneth J and Susan Davis of Colts Neck, Glenn and Joyce Davis of Freehold, Tanya Davis of East Brunswick, his grandchildren, Glenn Jr., Kerry, Caitlin, and Ken Jr; two sisters- in-law, and his loving nieces and nephews in NJ, CA and TX.

Funeral services will be Friday 11:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Ave South River NJ. A burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, South River NJ.
