Jim was my best friend for 32 years. We worked together at PIE (Pacific Intermountain Express) after Interstate Trucking closed down. Jimmy successfully qualified for his pension, but it wasn't easy for him because there wasn't a lot of work. Jim came from a difficult background, but he managed to surmount that and he always did his absolute best to provide for his family, often working two jobs. Jimmy helped me struggle through my divorce 25 years ago and he often went with me to Baltimore and Philadelphia while I sought treatment for pancreatic cancer. We enjoyed going on day trips together to NYC and Port Jervis as well as trips through the Jersey Pines. He was an excellent travelling companion. There was nothing he liked better than having a beer with old and new fiends. I raise my glass to you, Jim. My daughters had tremendous respect for him. My daughter Kyle asked him to call me once in a while at a lonely time in my life. Jimmy called me daily for the next ten years. My whole family, including the family dogs, will always miss him. Jimmy will stay in my heart forever. I will always miss him. Walt Mayer
