Liz McCarthy Tidyman, another woman on the family tree
I offer a partial litany of the saints in the communion of saints in the family tree Rose and I share. Rose is now in the communion of saints, with many women on the family tree who have entered the Light: Rose's mother Audrey; my mother Lillian; Rose's Grandmother Elizabeth, and her sister, my Grandmother Sinclair. Ellen, the sister of Elizabeth and Sinclair, and the women in Ellen's family: Joyce, Evelyn, Rosemary, and Peggy (wife of Alan). Isabel, the younger sister of Sinclair, Elizabeth, and Ellen, who died as a teenager. Anna Joseph, mother of Sinclair, Ellen, Elizabeth, Isabel, and their brother Franklin is the common great-grandmother that placed Rose and me as second-cousins on the family tree. I do not forget the rest of the men on the family tree in the communion of saints, but I wanted to lift in prayer a litany of some of the women in the communion of saints who would have welcomed Rose into their company. Rose's grandmother, and mine, were part of "The Joseph Family Orchestra," in a family in which everyone played music. None of them could have imagined "Stronger Than That," Rose's song with country artist Craig Campbell. All of these women in the communion of saints would be proud of Rose's resilience, determination, and the conduct of her life with love for family, friends, and strangers. I ask Rose and our other family members in the communion of saints to pray for us, in the Light of eternal life.
